The book of Kells

This ancient manuscript was copied by Celtic monks during the 500s as a commemorative gift celebrating the passing of Columba. What amazed me was the intense detail in the artistry… long hours copying the text with illuminating momentary of wisdom that showed itself in the artistry. I was convicted about the relative short time clergy of our day spend with the Text prior to sermons. These monks spoke of “turning darkness into light” as their task … something which can only happen with discipline and investment of time.
